Arlo McKinley & Senora May 12.18.21

The Fox Theatre Boulder, CO Words by Martin Smith ( whiskeyandwaxtrax ) Photos by Melissa Evans ( medoesphotos ) Arlo McKinley and Senora May finished up this leg of their tour on Saturday night at Fox Theater in Boulder, CO. It was an intimate affair as many of the University of Colorado college students had already left town for the holidays, which allowed Arlo and Senora to interact with the crowd from the stage and play their songs to a fully captivated crowd. Senora has the voice of an angel and opened the show with some beautiful country songs. Arlo and his band headlined the night and had the crowd on an emotional roller coaster playing his sad country songs but also had the crowd dancing to his rock n’ roll covers and southern rock tunes. Arlo McKinley has plenty of sad country songs and he played many of them but to the surprise of many he also incorporated a lot of rock n’ roll into the show. He started things off with “We We’re Alright”, “Don’t Need to Know” and “Whatever Yo

Jesse Dayton & The Railbenders 12.4.21

Globe Hall Denver, CO Words by Martin Smith ( Whiskey & Wax Trax ) Photos by Melissa Evans ( medoesphotos ) Jesse Dayton had the house rockin’ on Saturday night at The Globe Hall in Denver at his show/book tour. His new memoir, Beaumonster , is filled with stories about working with everybody from Waylon Jennings to Rob Zombie. He said it’s a whole lot cooler doing a book tour telling his stories and performing on stage than sitting in a bookstore. After Jesse finished his set, The Railbenders took over and had the sold-out venue singing along to every one of their country tunes. Jesse Dayton opened his set with his hit “Daddy was a Badass” and like Daddy, Jesse is a badass. If you haven’t heard of him, he is a writer, actor, filmmaker, and legendary guitar player having played with the likes of Waylon, Willie, Johnny Cash and so many others. On this night he shredded the guitar and sang some of his tunes like the rocking “Holy Ghost Rock n Roller”, “May Have to do it (Don’t Have

Willi Carlisle, Dylan Earl & Johno Leeroy 12.2.21

Lost Lake Lounge Denver, CO Words by Martin Smith ( W hiskey and Wax Trax ) Photos by Melissa Evans ( medoesphotos ) Willi Carlisle and friends had the Lost Lake Lounge dancing and singing along with an amazing night of country and folk music that brought joy, celebration, and even a few tears on a Thursday night in December. Willi joked that he was happy to see so many people show up on a “school night” to listen to him perform his moving songs and stories. The crowd would have stayed all night if they could. It was a great lineup from top to bottom with local country artist Johno Leeroy kicking off the show with his blue collar southern rock sounds, Dylan Earl with 90’s throwback country vibes, and Willi Carlise headlining with his raw, emotional folk songs.  A Willi Carlisle show, or Uncle Bill as Dylan calls him, is truly a wonderful experience. He exudes passion and authenticity in everything he does. He really connects to every person in the crowd as he weaves in stories from hi
