Jamband Spotlight: Livetronica Sampler #1
Words By Greg Molitor (ReMIND Photography)
Livetronica: A portmanteau of the words live and electronica, is a sub-genre of the jam band movement that blends such musical styles as rock, jazz, funk, and electronica.

Featured Group #1: Lotus
Lotus has been workin’ their magic since 1999 when it was conceived at Goshen College in Indiana. Formerly a quintet, Lotus is now a four-piece groove machine that blends a swingin’ rock / jazz fusion with electronic house music ideas. This combination of styles results in a danceable sound that brings familiarly with recognizable hooks and subsequently builds affect when the band improvises over the repeated melodies and rhythms...
Lotus Live at Water Street Music Hall, on December 29, 2010. <--- Direct Archive Link

Featured Group #2: Papadosio
Originally from Athens, Ohio, this five-member group now hails from Asheville, North Carolina and is a rising force in the jamband scene. Papadosio has quickly become an in-demand act for festivals across the country over the past few years, and the band also creating its own Rootwire Music Festival in 2010 which took place in Logan, Ohio. The band approaches its music with a synth-heavy, psychedelic mindset and relies primary on hip / hop and funk beats that get the crowd movin’ wherever it plays...

Led by innovative guitarist Tom Hamilton, Brothers Past shows routinely take the audiences along electronica-laden journeys that feature multiple song segues, upbeat and downtempo instrumental interludes, in-your-face synthesizer tones and soaring rock and roll moments...
